You should be able to get great tomatoes, jalapenos, maybe some red or green peppers in containers, and herbs look really pretty and fool people into thinking they are flowers. We turned our side yard into a garden last year and actually harvested quite a bit! And freeze your tomatoes whole in Freezer Ziplocs and you can make sauces and such out of them later. I've turned into a garden geek! Good luck!

Well done with your ongoing fruit and vegie crusade! I'm making a recipe tonight for tandoori chicken using a recipe I found in a magazine - the accompanying salad has coriander, red onion, red capsicum, zucchini, and lentils in it as well as baby spinach. I hope it's as tasty as it is colourful!

I have been trying to drink more water at home at night, instead of low-cal iced tea and diet lemonade (I have to make that go flat anyway since I can't handle fizzy drinks anymore).

I've found what works in my case (and possibly because it's summer and I'm hot when I get home) is freezing small bottles of water overnight, and then putting a couple in the fridge to slowly defrost during the day (depending on what shelf I place them).

I love, love, love icy cold water and regard it as a 'treat' to look forward to, and that way I find that I really savour it (whereas I used to guzzle the iced tea like you wouldn't believe and end up bloated because of it).

Oh, you are not alone. I think the cards should be for the moms and the candy should be for the kids. :)

OMG! We made it to card number 22 last night and Tyler begged me to help him. So...I signed his name (as close to his penmanship as possible) and felt so FRAUDULENT! But, it looks like I am not alone. LOL Thanks foR sharing!

Add a little Oyster Sauce to the mix in the jar (marinade) and some chicken broth to the wok after everything is cooked up, and it makes a nice sauce (maybe a little more cornstarch - in - water slurry for really thick sauce).

Oh no! I've been a pigeon! Damn!

I went to ISU the same years as Dee (we're high school buds), so from 87-91, and was a JLMC/Pol Sci major. Did the sorority thing (XO) and SAA. But sort of a rotten student. How about you?

I feel your pain. My son did something similiar to a cherished cactus of mine. I had a cactus in its' original clay Navajo pot that had been my mom's from almost 60 years ago. My youngest son (4 at the time) decided it needed more sun and dropped it on the tile floor trying to carry it in the sun room. Tears were spilled...and that weren't all his. A bowl of ice cream made him feel better. Me...not so much. But a couple of glasses of a good pinot noir did help lessen the pain. haha!
